I'm clearly no photographer, I could only get the camera to focus on the pencil. The "crystals" were weird- what looked like an icicle made of salt formed at the top of the string. As the water evaporates the salt left a ring around the jar as well. It's still on the counter, we'll see what it does- if anything fuzzy starts growing it's outta here though!
