Weekend

We haven't used the pool much this summer. The weather has hardly been warm, until this week when we were away. Of course Saturday morning it rained and made the water and air colder, but Ethan and James got in anyway. I almost did, but as soon as I went and got ready the clouds covered the sun for a good hour and by the time it came back, it was too far set to provide any warmth there. They tolerate it cold better than I do. This morning we found several morning glories open! We have been waiting for them to see what color they would be. The package looked like a variety but so far just these purple beauties. We decided to head to the zoo to try to see the baby anteater, and we were in luck! We tried when we got there and they weren't out, but tried one more time before we left and found them. We watched the baby climb on the mother's back and then ride around there. E said it was like a baby bjorn for anteaters. :)

 

I promised Ethan a stop in Scranton to get some supplies for his The Office themed birthday party. Between traffic and the time we left, we didn't arrive until 4pm! We managed to get to the mall to see the "Welcome to Scranton" sign, see the Electric City sign (although not illuminated) and then visit the Pennsylvania Paper and Supply Company which appears in the opening credits. We also went to Cooper's Seafood to visit their gift shop, and then to Alfredo's Pizza Cafe (NOT that hot circle of garbage known as Pizza by Alfredo). It was some of the worst pizza I ever ate. It had American cheese on it, which stuck to your teeth. It was NOT pizza. We got a few empty boxes too for his party, and stopped at the Gertrude Hawk store right next door. I mean, when in Scranton- get local chocolate! Only thing we really forgot was stopping at a grocer to stock up on some Herr's chips for the "vending machine." 

Canal & Antietam

For our last morning we headed to the bridge over the Potomac River. We got a good view and then went to the C&O canal path and walked down by the things we had seen from the bridge. There were MANY spiders! It was much cooler along the walk than it had been at the top of the bridge, lots of shade and a breeze. After that we decided to go to one last cafe before we went to the Antietam Visitor's Center. We did a few more stops on our driving tour before heading back to the house and loading up our coolers. It was a fun time, hopefully we didn't tire Ma out too much!
