Lighthouse Park

We went for a drive o see the lights at Lighthouse Point Park. We've really got to go there during the day sometime, it looks like there must be some beautiful views. We enjoyed the lights along the way. The house that stood out to me was this last one- the picture's not great as it's from a moving car, but they decorated with old fashioned runner sleds. They had them on all the windows and the door. It was nice to get out for a while even if we didn't leave the car.

 

Hike at Bent of the River

 

It was somewhat warm so we went for a hike. This was my first outing with the camera I got for my birthday. Still have a lot to learn! We were there longer than we would have been if I paid attention to what trail I was taking, we started following the river and I was expecting it to loop back. It didn't. We saw a couple of deer through the trees though and it was nice to be outdoors without freezing!

Christmas

 Like most people, we had a very quiet Christmas. It was weird, but we made the best of it. We had a zoom call w/ Grandma and Pa, Aunt Jean and Uncle Bill, Aunt Linda, Gramps, and Amber in the morning and then went to Danbury to visit James's parents and brother Jeff and his family in the garage (it was raining). Santa was good to us all, we have lots of new games, puzzles, books and music to keep us busy through the cold months ahead. 

Southford Falls

 We went out to take a Christmas Eve hike since it was relatively warm and were surprised to see only a few cars at Southford Falls so decided to stop. This time we walked along the stream and through the snow rather than on the beaten path. 

Stitchestown (AKA Gingerbread extravaganza)

 Peeps did not produce their holiday line this year, so we were without our usual snowmen and gingerbread people. What to do? Sub in the dinosaurs!! And a few Pokémon for good measure.

There's a town called Stitchestown that has a giant snowball fight every two years. The winners get to govern the town until the next one.

These Pokémon like to swim and surf in the pond. The dinosaur lives here, and often attacks the Toppat Clan.

Dinosaurs are divided into groups. This is the Toppat Clan, they are the "bad guys." They are seen here attacking another clan.

This dino is wearing a Santa hat while collecting snowballs from the dino on the roof.

This dino is attempting to knock the shingles off of the roof to use as snowballs and are being collected by one of his teammates.

The triceratops is part of an unspecified group and is being attacked by the Toppat Clan.

A group of Pokémon called the Squirtle Squad are sneaking around the corner to attack a Toppat Clan member.

The Pokémon living in the town don't participate in the giant fight, but they do sometimes participate in battles against a certain team. This year they are targeting the Toppat Clan.

Sledding

It being a half day with snow on the ground, we took the opportunity to head over to Southford Falls with Mandy, Gavin, and Max for some socially distanced fun checking out the big hill. Lucky for us, we had it all to ourselves! The kids had a great time going down (maybe not trudging up). Then the hurled hunks of snow at the ice and watched the broken bits go over the falls.
