We've kept busy this week trying to stay cool. Grocery shopping and the library on Tuesday, along with some playing in the basement in the afternoon. On Thursday we went to the craft store and Target (where we found lots more birthday bargains that I was mostly able to keep out of view) and in the afternoon we braved the heat for the Farmer's Market. Ethan wanted to get an M&M cookie. We found nectarines for James, apples and blackberries for Ethan, and some corn and potatoes. Last week we tried three varieties of early apples and decided we really liked one called William's Pride so we got more of those. Ethan pet a very friendly English lab, who surprised him by rolling over to get a belly rub. He didn't quite know what to make of that- this dog was pretty large, though we have observed him being very friendly and laid back for a lot of petting by various children for the past few weeks. Ethan seems to be getting over being afraid of dogs, so long as they are calm. Today at school Ethan had to say goodbye to one of his teachers, she is working on a master's degree and working full time was too much. I can totally understand that, but Ethan really likes her so I'm sure he'll miss her. He picked out a present for her- playdoh. It was pretty funny, he insisted she would like it. He got a present from her, a new matchbox truck, which he of course loved. He'll be moving to a different room soon anyway so hopefully it won't be too stressful. We did get a report of a tantrum at school on Monday, we're hoping it's a one time thing. He was in a great mood today, so maybe...
